Even a few years ago the word around the neighborhood of data science was that Python would rule this world. But that was the time when the field of data science was the niche of PhD propeller heads who thought Python had an incredible breadth of utility and was highly easy to use. But that is no longer the scene in the field of data science and it has gone more mainstream and include more than PhD propeller heads to drive its wheels.

Nowadays data science has become an important component for almost all kinds of businesses, and with time R Programming language has also developed to be a crucial component of this system.
How Python is being swallowed?

The prospect may sound precarious to compare two different programming languages, as they have very different usage. While some may think that comparing the relative popularity of Swift and C ++ is a good idea, but it may not prove to be very informative necessarily.

So, the same reasoning works for Python and R, while both are used for data science, but they have basic operational differences as R programming is a language developed by and for statisticians and have specialized functions, Python has more of a general purpose.

While the use of R still remains more specialized than Python and hence, Python offers offer jobs, but the popularity factor at which R programming is growing is tremendous. It jumped from the 9th place to the 6th place in just a year.

Also in terms of job offers in R programming the interest of highly qualified personnel has increased over the years recently and has pushed Python from its previously occupying place.

And with the present Big Data boom one can definitely expect an increase in the number of business analyst job positions and also other non-programmers to equip themselves with R programming know-how, and this melting pot of diverse R programmers will take data science to a new high in the near future.
